The intelligence of the heart

A poem for The Harris / Walz campaign

We can lead 
with the intelligence 
of the heart: 

On hard days, 
when the stretch of land feels unending: 
when the stretch of our longing knows no end: 
when we wonder: will the everyday 
ever become One Day:

We find the heart 
lives one step ahead. 

Courage is what brings 
the body forward. 
Courage is what turns 
a call into a song. 
Courage is the future 
drawing us closer.
Courage is the dream 
waking in us all.
