A reason
A reason
I.
Don’t turn ambition
into a reason
to cast a shadow
over where you currently stand.
Mindfulness is a graciousness—
the same way you are worthy
of your dreams
like the way you bite
into the sunny crust
of buttered bread.
II.
Self-reliance is a story
we tell ourselves
to avoid the inevitable:
We are essential to one another.
We are only known
when we swim in the same waters
when we remember a familiar sky
when we sense the hunger in dusk.
III.
There is no point—
we make the point.
So why wouldn’t
our home become
a spiritual devotion—
against the horizon
we could be lovely.
IV.
What if the beginning of love
starts with noticing.
